The University of Louisville is recruiting an academic Anesthesiologist with a subspecialty certification in critical care. The lntensivists lead the multi-disciplinary Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) team at the University of Louisville Heart Hospital which houses critically ill cardiac surgical patients requiring mechanical circulatory support, heart and lung transplant recipients, and patients with unstable ascending aortic disease. The CVICU team is comprised of physicians, providers, nurses, pharmacists, and therapists. In addition, the CVICU regularly hosts medical students and post-graduate trainees from the University of Louisville School of Medicine including Critical Care Anesthesiology fellows. Anesthesiology opportunities exist for teaching, research, scholarly efforts as well as clinical time. Academic rank is commensurate with the candidate's qualifications, experience, and interest. The Critical Care Division is housed in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. The multidisciplinary design of the Department engenders a collaborative relationship between its critical care and surgical members. The successful candidate is a Diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology, has completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in critical care, and is board-certified or board-eligible in Critical Care. Active medical licensure in the state of Kentucky, active BLS and ACLS certification, and possession of an unrestricted DEA number will be necessary.
