Position Summary & Qualifications

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine is seeking to hire critical care anesthesiologists to join our Division of Critical Care Medicine. Critical care anesthesiologists can practice solely in the ICU setting or have a blended practice, working in both general and subspecialty ORs (based on fellowship training and experience) and providing critical care staffing to the surgical, neuro, and cardiac ICUs. Qualifications for this position include:

  • Eligible for Alabama Licensure
  • Board certification or eligibility in Critical Care Medicine
  • Fellowship training with eligibility and certification in subspecialty critical care boards
  • Strong clinical, education, and interpersonal skills that will enable one to work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Note: J-1 visa applicants will be considered for employment.

Competitive Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary commensurate with rank and experience
  • $40,000 sign-on bonus
  • 05% employer retirement contribution beginning in second year
  • 22 vacation days, 12 paid holidays, up to 10 sick days
  • Week on/week off scheduling for ICU work
  • 23 weeks full-time critical care
