Vice Chair, Anesthesiology Critical Care

The Department of Anesthesiology at Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) seeks an inaugural Vice Chair, Anesthesiology Critical Care. This leadership role will be filled by a board-certified anesthesiologist with subspecialty certification in Critical Care medicine and a demonstrated record of divisional, departmental, or institutional leadership, and senior academic rank credentials

In partnership with the Chair of Anesthesiology, the Vice Chair will lead the growth, organization, and strategic direction of the Anesthesiology Critical Care program Across the WMCHealth network. The successful candidate will provide clinical, operational, academic, and administrative leadership while advancing excellence in patient care, education, academic productivity, and quality outcomes.

This individual will play an essential role in expanding critical care services, developing faculty, strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration, and enhancing the department's regional and national reputation.

The Vice Chair will build and lead a high-performing division while advancing the mission and strategic priorities of New York Medical College and WMCHealth, including the responsibilities outlined below.

Position Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight for the Division of Anesthesiology Critical Care at Westchester Medical Center and across the WMCHealth network, including affiliated community hospitals.
• Lead the growth and expansion of anesthesiology critical care services, including coverage of the cardiothoracic intensive care unit (CTICU) and other critical care environments.
• Develop and oversee equitable clinical scheduling, call coverage, and workload distribution.
• Collaborate closely with nursing leadership, surgeons, intensivists, and hospital administrators to optimize care delivery and operational performance.
• Establish standards of excellence and continuously improve quality, patient safety, and clinical outcomes across the division.
• Mentor and support faculty development, academic advancement, and leadership growth.
• Enhance the department's academic profile and national reputation through scholarship, innovation, and program development.

Education and Qualifications

• ABA Diplomate Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.
• Demonstrated experience leading a departmental division, service line, or institutional program.
• Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast-paced, rapidly growing organization undergoing significant transformation.

• Charismatic and influential leader with executive presence, sound judgment, and demonstrated negotiation skills, capable of navigating complex and evolving organizational dynamics.

Compensation
The estimated good-faith compensation range for this position is $715,000 to $825,000.
